Ontario Place

Refreshing the Iconic Destination

Celebrating Canada’s 150th Birthday

A tribute to our province.

When Ontario Place made its debut in 1971, it was a marvel of technology, engineering, and design. It features three artificially constructed islands and the world's first permanent IMAX theatre. Needless to say, it was the happening spot for having fun with family and friends.

Fast forward to June 2017, when the newly renovated public areas reopened in time to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.  Right in the heart of Toronto now lives 7.5 acres of beautiful green space; Trillium Park and the William G. Davis Trail.

With plenty new events and public spaces to promote, Wise & Hammer set out to create a website to share all of the exciting things that are happening at Ontario Place.

Perfecting The Palette

A contemporary colour scheme and typeface.

Although change was in the air, the history of Ontario Place still needed to be celebrated. The iconic logo remains at the top of every page, with the brand enhanced by the new fresh colour palette. The sans serif Roboto was chosen for its combination of geometric and open forms. A modern compliment to the logo, it was sure to stand the test of time.

Concert Listings, Events, Itineraries & Transportation

All in one place.

Providing information about the events was the main focus of the website. Wise & Hammer provided a solution that allows this content to be viewed in list, monthly, weekly, or daily views. We also included the ability to export the events to Google Calendar or iCal.

Information On The Go

A seamless mobile solution.

Accessing content while on the go was a key consideration, so we developed a website that is easy to navigate no matter the device of your choice. Visitors can easily search for events and transportation options from wherever they are. Whether you’re out in the marina, or in your own home, planning that family outing has never been so easy.

Content for All

Accessible information in Canada's official languages.

Ontario Place required a website that was bilingual and was fully accessible. No matter the preferred language or needs, all of the content is available in both English and French, in desktop or mobile - while complying to AODA standards.

A Gathering Space For Our Province

The perfect place to come together.

Whether you want to attend a concert, catch a movie in IMAX at the Cinesphere, take the kids skating at the outdoor rink in the summer, or go for an early morning run, Ontario Place has something to offer to every Canadian. With a plethora of activities available, Wise & Hammer made designing a user friendly experience top priority so that all Canadians can enjoy everything that Ontario Place has to offer.
